PrivacyPolicy

Ghost Detector is built so that almost nothing about your game leaves your phone. This page explains exactly what the app reads, what it stores, and what a small number of third-party services (used for purchases only) see on your behalf.

Who this applies to

This Privacy Policy covers the Ghost Detector iPhone app ("Ghost Detector," "the app," "we," "us"). It does not cover third-party websites or services you may reach through links in the app or on this site.

Camera

Ghost Detector uses the iPhone camera through Apple's ARKit to place ghosts in your surroundings while you play. The camera feed is processed live, on your device, to render the AR scene. We do not record, save, upload, or have any access to your camera feed — it never leaves your phone.

Motion and barometer sensors

The app reads motion and barometric-pressure data from your iPhone's sensors to drive the spectral scanner's EMF-style and pressure readouts. Like the camera, this data is used only for gameplay in the moment it's read — it is not stored or transmitted anywhere.

Microphone and speech recognition

Ghost Hunter Pro subscribers can hold a button to speak a question to a ghost. When you do, the app uses the microphone and Apple's on-device Speech framework to transcribe what you say into text, which is then used to generate the ghost's reply. We do not store audio recordings, and we do not have access to your voice data — transcription happens on your device.

Ghost captures and app settings

Your captured ghosts, Ghostdex progress, and app settings (like voice or night-vision preferences) are stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device storage frameworks. None of this is uploaded to us or to any third party. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.

Apple Intelligence

On supported devices, Ghost Detector can use Apple's on-device Apple Intelligence (FoundationModels) to generate ghost dialogue and biographies. This processing happens entirely on your device under Apple's own on-device privacy model — we do not receive the text you send or the replies generated. On devices or in situations where this isn't available, the app falls back to authored, scripted ghost dialogue instead.

Purchases and subscriptions

Ghost Detector offers optional in-app purchases (battery packs) and an auto-renewing subscription (Ghost Hunter Pro). Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store, and purchase/ entitlement management is handled by our subscription platform, RevenueCat. To do this, RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier for your installation of the app along with purchase and subscription transaction data — it does not receive your name, camera feed, sensor data, or voice data. RevenueCat's own privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy, and Apple's at apple.com/legal/privacy.

What we don't do

Children's privacy

Ghost Detector is a playful, non-scary entertainment app suitable for a general audience, but it is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information in a way not described here, contact us using the details below and we'll address it.

Data retention and deletion

Gameplay data lives on your device and is removed when you delete the app. Purchase and subscription records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat according to their own retention policies, since they — not us — are the parties actually processing that data. To request deletion of anything associated with your RevenueCat identifier, contact us and we'll help coordinate that.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, note it on this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
